4 Reasons to Write in a World that "Doesn't Read."
I have, in my life, encountered several people who have told me that they “Don’t read.” Maybe you have too—or maybe you are one of those people!
How it’s actually possible to live life without reading books, no one has enlightened me as of yet, but the fact that fewer people read actual books and articles these days is pretty well-accepted.
Books are out. TikTok is in (well, maybe out too 😆).
And writers are left offering their books to a globe with a growing percentage of people who have never opened a book.
Why do we continue to write?
Your writing can reach further than ever to the people who need your words. The superpower of indie-publishing has made it possible for everyone to become a self-publisher. Not for everyone to succeed, but publish, yes.
There are more people who read now than there ever was. If you ever thought there was no audience left, that was just a false perception.
Despite those who ignore you and your work, the people who need to hear your writing will have ears open to it. For those out there doubting, they will find your teaching on Christ to be an amazing thing. For those who are searching for an escape from their world, they may pick up your book and find your world that you sweat and bled to make just for them.
The most dedicated writers will find an audience. By looking, by writing, and by trying, you will eventually find and develop an audience who wants and needs to hear what you’re saying. It’s a very long road, but put the first step out there today and you’ll get there before you know it.
And remember, this world has, right at this very second, writers with as much, or more talent, drive, and passion as anyone that has ever been on the face of the earth. And that could be you. It may look like your work is futile, but it is not.
